Ingredients
- 12 pieces string cheese
- 12 egg roll wrappers
- Oil for deep-fat frying (such as canola or vegetable)
- Marinara or spaghetti sauce for dipping
Directions
- Place a piece of string cheese near the bottom corner of one egg roll wrapper. Fold bottom corner over cheese. Roll up halfway; fold sides toward center over cheese. Moisten remaining corner with water; roll up tightly to seal. Repeat with remaining wrappers and cheese.
- Place 1/2″-1″ of oil in a skillet and heat over medium. You’ll start to see it sort of ‘wrinkle’ when it gets hot enough. (Note…when frying, don’t get impatient! If you heat the oil too quickly at too high of a temp., it will just start smoking and be a total mess!)
- Fry sticks, a few at a time, for 30-60 seconds on each side or until golden brown. Drain on paper towels. Serve with marinara sauce. Yield: 1 dozen.

Who doesn’t love mozzarella sticks? Seriously, so good. I happened to have almost a whole package of egg roll wrappers and nothing to do with them…until I had the thought that I could probably stick string cheese in them and call it a day. After a little googling, turns out, it’s been done, and was about to be done in my kitchen.
These were so much fun to make, and let me tell you, they were so yummy. I mean, of course they were. They took seconds to roll up and just a few minutes to fry. I don’t usually fry things, and I don’t recommend doing too much of it, I mean unless you want to look like Paula Deen, but it is fun time to time. And yes, it is the Holidays.
I have to admit, no matter how much fun it is to be gluttonous and continuously eat just one more cookie because you have an excuse to, I am looking forward to actually feeling good about myself again. But… in the meantime, I hope that if you are headed out to one more holiday party, or have family in town, perhaps you will give these a try. I promise, everyone will ask for them again next year.

If you cooked with me this week, thank you! If I at least inspired you to try something new, or perhaps make any one of this week’s recipes at a later date, that is awesome as well (and I expect to be added to your New Year’s resolution list).
Please leave me your thoughts on what you thought of this layout (i.e. grocery list, meal ideas, etc.) because I had a lot of fun this week and plan on doing more of this! Happy Holidays to you all, thanks for reading.
